Job Type Full-timeDescriptionJOB SUMMARYThe position of Cardiology Echo Tech undertakes a range of functions under the supervision of the Cardiology Supervisor.
The Echo Tech is a Registered Cardiac Sonographer.
He/she obtains transthorasic echocardiograms as ordered by the physician, and per instructions of the cardiologist.
He/she uses cardiac ultrasound to obtain cardiac images for the systematic measurements, views, and dimensions of the heart structures.
Echo Tech obtains comprehensive, systematic data of the heart, completing a clinical relevant report for interpretation by the cardiologistRequirementsJOB REQUIREMENTSMinimum EducationMust be a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (ARDCS).
Minimum Work Experience Minimum of 5 years experience in Adult and Pediatric Echocardiography preferred, but will train on the job.
Prior experience preferred in Cardiac Stress Test Echocardiography, but will train on the job.
Required SkillsThrough knowledge in cardiology procedures within scope of responsibility.

Provides patient education on procedure, and allows opportunity for questions and reassurance.
Instructs and assists patients in assuming necessary positions for required exposure to ultrasonic waves.
Measures and records dimensions of heart structures utilizing calipers according to established procedures.
Review results, eliminates from consideration all artifacts, and types and proofreads reports, ensuring information recorded is complete and accurate.
After review, completes the Preliminary Report in an accurate and legible manner for interpretation by the cardiologist.
Makes necessary photocopies of all patient information or reports and distributes same to appropriate personnel.
Maintains equipment in clean and proper working order, and replenishes supplies as necessary.

Compete Echocardiogram in an accurate and timely manner.
Complete and CINE Stress Echocardiogram, obtains ultrasound images pre and post in a timely manner, and assists with preparation.
Contrast Echo, obtains ultrasound images, assists with prep.
Complete and CINE Dobutamine stress Echo, obtains ultrasound images pre and post in a timely manner, and assists with prep.
Complete and CINE Stress Echo with pacing, obtain ultrasound images pre and post in a timely manner, and assists with preparation.
Assist Cardiologist and RN with Transesophageal Echocardiogram.
Demonstrates proper probe checks, cleaning and storage of TEE probe.
Assists RN with Adenosine stress test while following viewing station protocol.
Assists RN with Myoview stress test while following viewing station protocol.
Pulmonary Rehab Treadmill.
Cardiac Rehab Treadmill.
Signal Average Electrocardiogram.
Electrocardiogram.
Electrocardiogram with pacing.
Obtains rhythm strips with and without pacing.
Performs education and application of 24-hour Holter monitor.
Holter monitor scans.
Completes a minimum of 10 pediatric Echos.
Demonstrate Tech I and II competency.

Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate technique to obtain vital signs and is able ti interpret norms for the patient population served.
Demonstrates knowledge of location and use of emergency equipment and drugs for the patient population served.
Provides education to patient /family based on identified learning needs of the patient population served.
